Coconut tree in Animal crossing city folk for wii?

I need help! I can’t seem to plant a coconut tree in my town. I planted it on the first level, then I planted it away from the sand, and I planted it where the dirt and grass meet, and I watered it everyday, maybe like twice a day even. What is going on? I need help. Thanks =]

  1. Coconut trees must be planted near the beach/ocean and not on the grass. Also, make sure it is not planted next to signboards, other trees and houses. 1 space in between the coconut tree and the other stuff is fine.
